1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are used to store small pieces of information. They are stored on your device when the website is loaded on your browser. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in the same way. In this policy we call all of them "cookies".
2. How we use cookies
We keep cookies to a minimum. We do not use advertising cookies. Optional analytics cookies are only set after you click Accept in the cookie banner. If you click Reject, or do not decide, they are not set.
3. Types of cookies we use
- Necessary: Your cookie choice is saved in your browser's local storage
(
cookiesAccepted) so that we do not ask again on every page. On pages with the contact form, Cloudflare Turnstile, our bot protection service, may store technical data needed to check that the form is sent by a human. These do not require consent. - Analytics (optional): With your consent, Google Analytics sets the cookies

They help us understand how many people visit the website, which pages they view and where they come from, so we can see what works and where the website needs improvement. Without your consent, Google Analytics runs in a cookieless mode and does not store anything on your device. - Embedded content: Our Talks page shows conference recordings from YouTube and slides from Speaker Deck. Nothing is loaded from these services until you click a recording or slide deck. After you click, the service may set its own cookies, as described in its privacy policy.
